Summary/Abstract: After 1954, in Yugoslavia we have come to deal with relativisation of the truth, and also that of the right to life for everybody who did not fit in the dominant ideology. From the beginning of the 1990s Croatian culture has been restoring to the official stream of memory the tragic histories of writers who opposed the collective delusion, sometimes becoming hostages. The meaningful and symbolic removal of the writers’ names and works, as well as the stigma of betrayal and collaboration create a comprehensive mosaic of various cases of exclusion, which can be considered in the context of lies and concealments about World War II and the subsequent Titoism.
