Summary/Abstract: Macedonia is the only republic of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia which become independent without fighting for it. Nevertheless since proclaiming the independence the state is meeting many difficulties. One of the reasons for this is the name dispute with Greece. Athens declares that the name of Republic of Macedonia is unacceptable to it because it is part og the Greek history and could be a ground for claims from Skopje. For more than 20 years in the international relations the state is using the name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The Presidency of Bulgaria of the Council of the European Union (EU) placed as its priority integration of the Western Balkan countries (including Macedonia). In this relation resolution of the name dispute between Athens and Skopje is very important
