Summary/Abstract: Conversion is a unique way of forming new words when a derived word has the same shape as the original word. In traditional grammars, it is quite dominant the definition that during conversions there is a change in the belonging of the part of speech or at least the change of the syntactic category of the word, without any change in the shape. The morphosyntactic approach is based solely on changing the part of the speech, while the lexical approach relies on the creation of the new lexical unit. This paper is an effort to expanded approach and perspective, because conversion in Albanian occurs also within the same parts of speech, or without changing it. While in English and German conversion is one of the most productive ways of word formation, in French, Spanish and Slavic languages it hardly exists. Italian considers the conversion in a slightly different way. Albanian, in another hand, is extremely advanced in this plan, since we have identified more than 500 cases of undoubted conversion as well as hundreds of cases of polysemy with the tendency of dissolution with high chances of differentiation of meaning, making those word new lexical units. In terms of form, words are divided into simple and complex words. Simple words to a certain extent are equated with the root of the word and from today's perspective, we can say that they are natural, while the complex words are cultivated on the basis of certain paradigms, to express new meanings, morphological traits or certain functions of the same meanings and senses. But what are the root and the simple word form in the verbs? Which of the shapes should we treat in such languages as Albanian is? Ultimately, there is only one irrepressible explanation when it comes to determining what is a topic for a simple word: the base is the penultimate form of the word.
