Summary/Abstract: In this paper we will treat a permanent problem of literature: the report of fiction with truth, art with life and with the word as a proven fact. This problem has been treated throughout the history of literature since the Antiquity, when philosophers tried to explain the nature of literature and its literary and non-literary functions. In this text the problem is treated in studies of our scholar, Ibrahim Rugova, in which he has treated the report of literary fiction as a problem of aesthetics, philosophy of art and literary theory. The fact and fiction are singled out as two categories that are rejected, and when we treated them as elements of a literary work or as a category of literature, they communicate and collaborate in function of the ontology of the literary work. The factual and fiction categories are related directly to the issue of truth, reality, and fiction or virtuality as a field in which fission is manifested. We think that in literary studies, these two categories should not be treated as divided into components of an antithetical couple, but connected as a marker and sign, considering that both are conceived as literary categories. When we discuss Rugova's ideas about this problem, we see our well-known scholar concretely within the modern literary knowledge and we treat the proposals that propos a modern scholar, formed as literary theorist and esthete. Rugova treate literature as a parallel world of real life and, in this sense, literature is fiction, while life is the literary fact. When he finds this, takes into account, first of all, modern literature, which is liberated from the pre-romantic and romantic mission of representing the general social or national ideas. But to see what this problem looks like in the theoretical thought of Ibrahim Rugova, we have to read it in representative theoretical and philosophical texts such “Differentia specifica”, “From the ontology of literary artistic work”, “Interpretation of literary work” ect., in which the issue of fact and fiction, literature and truth is treated as a category of literature and as an important subject of literatu studies regarding the ontology of the literary work and its interpretation.
