Summary/Abstract: Karaosmanoğlu Family was the most powerful notable family from the middle of the 18th century to the first quarter of the 19th century. The Ottoman notables had started losing power at the beginning of the 19th century and their influence on the provincial administration had gradually declined. Following the launch of Tanzimat, officers assigned from the central administration began to work in the countryside. This article discusses the district governorship of Mehmed Sadık Bey, from Karaosmanoğlu Family, of the Saruhan Sandjak. Mehmed Sadık Bey is the last governor descending from this family.
