Summary/Abstract: This article is a part of the introduction of my Ph.D. thesis entitled “The Spiritual Heart (the Self) in the Kashmir Śaivism Philosophy”. It presents and analyses some of the fundamental concepts of this philosophy such as: Paradvaita/ paramadvaya/ paramadvaita (the supreme non-dualism), Abhasa vada (the theory of apparitions), satkarya-vada (spiritual realism), in opposition to the main concepts of Advaita Vedanta such as Atman-Brahman (the Self) and Maya (cosmic illusion). Considering that only the Vedas and Vedanta are partially known in the Romanian philosophic milieu, the purpose of this text is to introduce the basic notions of the Śaiva philosophy, which are difficult to grasp, to the Romanian reader
