The role of innovations in selected areas of logistics activities of enterprises

Summary/Abstract: This is a theoretical article based on a review of literature. It discusses the importance of innovation for business development, the place of logistics strategy in the company’s business strategy and the role of innovation in both of the above. The method of classification of innovations, adapted to the specifics of logistics, has been approximated. As the research method, the analysis of literature sources and the method of case description were adopted. The article presents selected innovative solutions in the field of logistics: Internet of Things (IoT) and autonomous vehicles. A separate subsection was devoted to innovations at Amazon, due to the company’s position as a leading logistics operator in the world and recognition of it as the most innovative company in the world in 2017.
