Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the acquisitive prescription by spouses in Roman law and contemporary Bulgarian law. It follows the development of acquisitive prescription from antiquity to the present day. A critical analysis of the case-law is made under the Family Code of 1968, 1985 and 2009.
