Summary/Abstract: Introduction: The paper deals with the issue of social work with selected target groups, such as families before and after divorce, people suffering from mental diseases, prostitutes and trafficked persons andseniors. The aim of the paper is to outline the specifics of social work with these target groups in the perception of social workers who meetthese clients in practice. Methodology: The realized research was conceived as a qualitative study using the interview technique. The research sample consistedof social workers working with clients from selected target groups. Results: This study was focused on the identification of the specifics of social work with the above-mentioned target groups and the description of the examples of good practice reported by the approached professionals working with the individual target groups. The results show that some of the described specifics are more general and can be found wider application in social work. On the other hand, respecting the particularities of individual target groups is a prerequisite for successful social work with the client. Conclusion: The contribution brings deeper theoretical knowledge of social work with selected target groups about the perspective of social workers from practice. This knowledge can be further used to improve the quality of social work with these target groups.
