Summary/Abstract: The European Union has recently been working on projects which aim to reduce the debated issue of democracy deficit. The most important of these studies is seen as the European Citizens' Initiative. The system has been in operation since April 2012, but it is not easy to understand how much the European Union has been able to solve the issue of democracy deficit. One of the most important objectives of this study was to question the effectiveness and efficiency of the European Citizens' Initiative system. In this respect, the circumstances of initiatives that were previously considered successful will be analyzed, after addressing the initiatives that are now in the signature phase. It has been understood that the work on the subject merely emphasized the importance of the European Citizens' Initiative system, but that none of the employees referred to the outcomes of the initiatives. For this reason, it is considered that the study will reveal the incomplete and controversial aspects of the subject.
