Summary/Abstract: Functionality in design has gained a new dimension within today's requirements; "a design that can meet the needs of a wide variety of user groups equally" has become more and more needed rather than "functional design for the average user". This broad perspective approach, including the arrangement of products, services and environments, is called universal design. Universal design is also called inclusive design because it is intended to serve the widest possible user group. Since they are a concrete example of the concept of inclusiveness with dynamic and diverse user profiles; universality and inclusiveness are explained through the educational institutions. The social equitable attitudes are considered as another feature that reconciles the universal design concept with the educational institutions in terms of their missions. Equal access to educational facilities and services is an important aspect of ensuring equal access to education. The study was designed to examine the basics of organizing informative environmental equipments in educational institutions according to universal design approach. Through the review of literature and standards; technical regulations which are the practical counterpart of universal design principles are explained.
