The Influence of Economic and Sociocultural Factors on Chinese Family Enterprises Development

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to identify sociocultural and economic factors that influence development of family enterprises in China. In-depth analysis has shown the main characteristics of Chinese sociocultural and economic environment that positively impact family enterprises are: economic growth and changes in the structure of Chinese economy, liberalization of Chinese markets, cultural aspects, especially important role of the family in Confucian tradition, development of family enterprises within Chinese diaspora, and internalmigrations. On the other hand the main factors that have negative impact on Chinese familyenterprises are: bureaucracy, discrimination of family firms in favor of state owned enterprises,insufficient access to financial resources, corruption, broken homes that result from household registration system, effects of former family planning policy that restrict access of human capital and affect succession processes. According to the research results Chinese government systematically introduces changes in its policy, to deal with all above mentioned problems.
