Summary/Abstract: Firstly, this research handles importance of subliminal messages and then examines types of conveyances of subliminal messages which are considered important to be used in the environment-oriented lessons of secondary education students. An “descriptive method” is preferred for the research for the effective implementation of subliminal messages and determination of its effects. The working group of this research consists of seventh & eighth-grade students of Atatürk Secondary School located in Sinop province. Four propositions, validity and reliability of which were already tested, were presented to the group with 80 participants through subliminal messages prepared with various techniques (illustration, sign, typography, color); and they are requested to reply with “Yes” or “No”. As a result of the research, it is understood that the subliminal messages have influenced the answers of the participants. The following changes are observed in the answers of the participants: 25% with messages conveyed through illustrations, 37.5% with messages conveyed through signs, 22.5% with messages conveyed through typographies and 37.5% with messages conveyed through colors. Having the equal influences on the participants compared to other techniques, the messages conveyed through Signs and Colors have much more influences on the participants compared to other techniques. Educational books intervening in subconscious through subliminal messages, rather than an environmental education book prepared with ordinary methods or with a direct instruction method, will provide a permanent behavioral change for students and ensure that they will not forget the information conveyed.
