Summary/Abstract: This paper shows the relational capital of family enterprises. The purpose is attempt to answer the question about the nature of the relationship of these companies with external stakeholders. In order to accomplish its objectives the study was conducted among 50 companies in Lodz region (including 20 family businesses), and two case studies. The research shows that family businesses generally make relationships with customers, suppliers and strategic allies and banks. These relationships are evaluated by respondents as crucial or very important from the point of view of business development .Frequently they have a character of contractual relations and partnerships. Although the companies surveyed are aware of the importance of relational capital, they do not use any specific methods to manage it.
