Summary/Abstract: The Roman legal experience contains a vast number of norms in relation to the safety of navigation, rescue of people and finding of goods in the marine waters. The new Maritime Navigation Law 14/2014 is not strange to many of the principles that have been in operation since Roman times and which were previously codified in the Commercial Code. This study aims to discover the common points, connections and influence of Roman law with regard to the salvage and taking out of goods from the sea. We are trying to explore the past to understand the current legislation.
