Summary/Abstract: This is Radu Afrim’s third performance directed at the Hungarian ensemble of the Târgu Mureș National Theatre. After the Devil’s Casting and Tranquillity, he both wrote and directed Retrobird Crashes into a Block of Flats and Hits the Hot Asphalt, which presents the Communist everyday reality of the 1970’s and 80’s through the nearly surrealistic lives of the tenants of a block of flats. Boglárka Gál interprets the performance as a locus of collective memory, a visually abundant show, which relies on the spectators’ nostalgia while treating it with irony.
