FROM EPIC TO NATIONAL IDENTITY CONSTRUCTION: STRUCTURE AND THEME IN ALTAI WRITER ÇIBAŞ KAYİNÇİN’S STORY “KAYÇI”

Summary/Abstract: The Kayçı is one of the stories of the Altai writer Çıbaş Kayinçin’'s book titled Tuular Baştay Kıygı. The various sections of the story of an epic narrator who is not given a name in the story are presented in parallel with the transformation process of the Altai Turks. In the introduction of the work, information about the past and present of Altai epic tradition, and the life and works of the writer Çıbaş Kayinçin is given. In the first part, the structural elements of the Kayçı are emphasized, and in the second part, the story is handled from a thematic point of view. In the conclusion part, the findings obtained during the study are evaluated.
