The Orthodoxy And Serbian Society

Summary/Abstract: The paper proceeds from the conceptual understanding of religion, as a factor of social development and a factor of social and cultural cohesion. The study Orthodoxy and Serbian society is trying to determine the place of orthodoxy in the culture of the Serbian society: we are examining the influence of Orthodoxy on the formation of cultural pattern; we pay special attention to the influence of Orthodoxy on the formation of identity in Serbian society, that is description, recognition and explanation of the content and social consequences of their interrelatedness. In order to determine the influence of the orthodoxy on the Serbian society, we pay special attention to: (a) relationship between the Orthodox Church and Serbian State in Middle Ages, (b) relationship between the orthodoxy and national life of Serbians, (c) spiritual and cultural meaning of Serbian Orthodox Church in Serbian State in Middle Ages.
