Summary/Abstract: The process of postsocialist transformation in Serbian society initiated, among many other phenomena, a curious, informal evaluation of individuals and groups of people, as “winners” or “losers”. The existence and active use of the mentioned terms in colloquial speech confirm a socio-cultural awareness of the specific categories of winners and losers that ascribes specific characteristics and attributes, and enables the social positioning of an individual. In this paper, my intent is to emphasize adequate analytical concepts to address issues of identification with the mentioned categories and their social conceptualizations, as well as to point out certain problems accompanying these issues.
