Summary/Abstract: When painting, artist benefits from some images. These images arise from the previous experiences, dreams, his responses to the experienced incidents of the artist. These images become a significant starting point for the artist frequently when the Works of the artist are analyzed in terms of plastic. The “scarecrow” image that is located occasionally in the paintings of Neşet Günal is the reflection of the fictitious people images that is made in order to be protected from birds and vermin of the vineyards, orchards, fields which are based on the artist’s childhood. The “scarecrow” paintings of Neşet Günal who reflects the struggle for life of the Anatolian people with social realistic paintings holds an important place. Although the “scarecrow” is thought as a rag doll for the protection of field and gardens which are built on the fear image located within the traditional culture in Anatolia, it is situated in the paintings of Neşet Günal as a part of the life styles of the earthbound people. It can be said that, these paintings which the struggle for the survival of the people with large hand and barefoot based on poverty and land are reflected in a simple language, in fact is an allegorical expression that is visualized in order to overcome the fear of human life. These paintings which the scarecrow paintings are described very sincerely are located as significant Works that are done on the images in the contemporary Turkish Painting Art.
