Summary/Abstract: Roman Catholic propaganda amongst Bulgarians in the second half of the XIX century is the reason the supreme hierarchy of Bulgarian Orthodox Church to look with distrust on the initiatives of Vatican during the Second Vatican Council for rapprochement and union between the Eastern and Western Church. On the eve and during the sessions of the Second Vatican Council Bulgarian Patriarch Cyril keeps a lively correspondence with the Italian professor Giorgio Nurigiani (Zhorzh Nurizhan). From the correspondence between Patriarch Cyril and prof. Nurigiani becomes clear the scientific interests of the Bulgarian Patriarch, which are associated with the Catholic propaganda in our country. His scientific commitment in clarifying of this question is unknown. Probably the old man Cyril was preparing an essay abouth the Catholic propaganda in Bulgaria from 1865 until the War of Liberation (1877-1878) as a necessary sequel of his book "Catholic propaganda among Bulgarians in the second half of XIX century. (1859-1865). "
