GENRE AND STYLE VERBOSITY OF THE VARIANT. AN ORAL FAIRYTALE OF CINDERELLA AFTER THE NOTES OF JOVAN SUBOTIĆ

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the poetic, genre and stylistic characteristics of Subotić’s notes of the oral fairytale of Cinderella. The paper focuses on particularities conditioned mostly by the area where the variant was noted down, as well as Subotić’s general literary views. What draws special attention is the primarily syncretic genre organization of this note, deviations from Karadžić’s vision of the “ideal” model of folk storytelling, the suppression of the category of the wonder before reality, the impulses of the dramatic (dramaturgic) shaping... As one of the fixed variants of the international summary, Subotić’s Serbian Cinderella indicates vividness and dynamics of the phenomenon of the variant in general.
