Summary/Abstract: The research shows how the effective scenes with Orthodox ornaments are built in Lazarević’s stories in the form of iconic scenery. It focuses on the role of Orthodox icons in the texts, which serve not only to emphasize the moral of the story, but also for effective characterisation (for example, Marica in “Prvi put s ocem na jutrenje” and the priest in “Školska ikona“), to intensify the phychological state of the characters and show the evangelical archetype. Such depictions, built upon the sentences, paraboles and scenes from the New Testament, are revealed in the subtext of Lazarević’s stories.
