Summary/Abstract: The text presents a problem thesis about the role and significance of the fantastic in the work Burleska gospodina Peruna boga groma (Burlesque of the Lord Perun, God of Thunder). The old Slavic pantheon, paganism and elements of Slavic demonology in Burleska are discussed first in the context of fantastic literature. The basic goal of the paper is not just enumeration of these elements, but relating them to the fantastic literature. For the same goal, the important question is why myth and the fantastic have a common and invariant basis and whether the fields of human spirit like mythology and demonology should be viewed as the sources of the fantastic. Such a research has as its goal a possible typological confirmation of the wavering status of the fantastic in Petrović’s opus.
