Summary/Abstract: The topic of this paper is the motive of vampire in the comparative analysis of several works (authors): Pekic’s sotie Kako upokojiti vampira (How to Quiet a Vampire), Matheson’s short novel I am Legend, Sergej Lukyanenko’s novel Night Watch and Boris Vian’s short story Drencula. The goal of the paper is to point to the less frequently studied aspects of the motive, with the stress on the ideological and subversive moments in the selected works, as well as to underline the problem of trivial literature in the works with the vampire motive.
