Summary/Abstract: The study aims to present those aspects of literary work and intellectual legacy of F. M. Dostoyevsky (1821–1881), that motivated Ernst Jünger (1895–1998) when formulating his own literary and essayistic work. Dostoyevsky´s influence on Jünger has been studied only fragmentary and in long time intervals so far. The study follows on from previous research and complement new findings. Ernst Jünger inquired into Dostoyevsky´s work all his life. He perceived Dostoyevsky as a forecaster of crisises and disasters. Many of Jünger´s motives, literary images, characters and symbols are influenced by Dostoyevsky, or borrowed from Dostoyevsky and further developed. Of great importance to Jünger are such phenomenons as power, evil or misery and pain. Dostoyevsky also influenced Jünger in his contemplation of nihilism.
