Teaching Polish as a foreign language in the history of Polish

Summary/Abstract: The thesis is divided into two parts. The first one gives a wide background of Polish as a foreign/second language. For this purpose a short review of books dealing with the history of Polish language has been included. The second part sketches an idea of a future monograph devoted to the history of Polish as a foreign/second language which is already five hundred years old. Handbooks, dictionaries, dialogues and grammars written especially for foreigners and often by foreigners should be a starting point. The background of multicultural and multilingual Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth should also be very important.
