Summary/Abstract: Comments of the author, narrator or a hero have a significant part in the stylization of Andersen’s narration. They are usually presented as remarks, explanations, sometimes as a proverbial or aphoristic roundup, and in their intonation they can be witty, ironic, with a satirical tone, but there are also those of the thoughtful philosophical tone. Their functionality is manifold: they influence dynamism, branching of the prose text, they appear as genre markers, in the function of the hero’s characterization, then as intrinsic ideas which could, but do not have to, support the basic intention of the story, thus significantly conditioning the total interpretation, as an aspect of non-tendentious education, as auto-poetic statements... In some cases, Andersen’s comments function as the formal, more independent units and then they are closer to an aphorism or a proverb, but they are mostly related to the context in which thy appear; still, in both aspects, they are specific „experiential conclusions” offered to the reader only as a possibility, as one possible attitude to the world, life and people.
