Summary/Abstract: State-sanctioned conventions, the work of non-governmental organizations and academic research have drawn attention to protective and preventive institutional frameworks and dynamics in the struggle with domestic violence against women. In Turkey, that same process was initiated by the women’s movement, which was followed by legal regulations and institutional frameworks. Issued in 1998 to fight domestic violence against women more effectively, Statute 4320 was revised in and reissued in 2012 as Statute 6284, “the Statute for the Protection of the Family and the Prevention of Violence Against Women” aspart of the requirements of the Istanbul Convention. This statute mandated the establishmentof a one-step system in the fight against domestic violence, namely, the “Centers for the Prevention and Tracking of Violence” (CPTV/ŞÖNİM). The statute projected working under the “single door” principle for the prevention and tracking of violence against women and its dissemination throughout Turkey.
