Summary/Abstract: The motive of the quest in Judita Šalgo’s posthumous novel The Voyage to Birobijan is strongly related to the voices and messages announcing the existence of a women’s Utopia and a female Christ. Oral testimonies and verbal hints in the novel serve the purpose of both guarding the secret of the Female Continent and spreading the word about it. The myth of Birobijan persists in the language of insanity and illness, thus being hidden from the apparatus of power and its „official” myths.
