Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to not only present the results of analysis carried out on innovative activities in the field of management that led to a significant reduction in ticket prices for short and medium-haul flights inside Europe, but is also an attempt to define further development trends for low-cost air carriers, leading to even greater cost reduction. The methods used to evaluate innovative activities of low-cost air carriers were: analysis of the literature, analysis of reports and studies of international organizations dealing with issues related to the subject of research, comparative analysis and cause-and-effect analysis. The research methods applied allowed the definition of key differences in the way traditional and lowcost air carriers operate. As a result, it is possible to point out which innovative activities had the greatest impact on the market success of low-cost air carriers, resulting in the rapid growth of passenger flights at the turn of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
