Summary/Abstract: Ahmet Altan, one of the prominent authors in Turkish literature after 1980, addresses many social and individual issues in his works that have been published. The issues such as history, politics, love, religion, sexuality are examined in detail by the author. Altan’s essays as in other works are rich in terms of their content. Some of these are related to human feelings. The author writes many essays on the issues such as hope, fear, lust, jealousy and courage. However, Altan in some essays focuses on the theme of self-deception which is a psychological case. The author trying to understand and explain the spirit world of a person, examines the after and before of this condition. The grounds in which the feeling of self-deception took place is a condition that attracts the author's attention.
