Summary/Abstract: This text shows that the (contemporary) haiku landscape is a lucid en-counter between game and wisdom, since it is not only illustrational, but also illuminative, when it establishes the “haiku world” in its 17 syllables. It in-tends to record the world with its psychological and mental reflector. Haiku landscapes, whether referring to natural scenery and phenomena, or to some artistic and cultural phenomena, can be classified into three basic groups/types: illustrative landscapes (descriptive, natural, static); illuminative landscapes (metaphysical, dynamic, borderline); and intertextual landscapes (ekphrastic, cultural, ludic). Each type has been illustrated with representative haiku poems by some contemporary haiku poets from all over the world.
