A Study on the Travel Motivations of Chinese Tourist Who Came To Turkey

Summary/Abstract: China is a country that has developed rapidly in recent years and opened to the World. As a country that has grown rapidly in the international tourism market, China has become the country with the highest tourism expenditure in 2016. China's tourism market has begun to attract worldwide attention. Many countries have struggled to gain share from this market. However, the number of Chinese tourists coming to Turkey seems to be quite low compared to the number of international traveling tourists. It is thought that Turkey, which needs alternative tourism markets, needs to get more share from this market. In this way, it is aimed to examine the Chinese tourism market and determine the travel motivation of Chinese tourists. For this purpose, survey data and data were collected on 131 Chinese tourists who visited İstanbul, frequency analysis, difference tests, descriptive factor analysis. As a result of the research, attractive motivations consist of 5 dimensions including natural and cultural opportunities, activities, quality and trust, shopping facilities, price and convenience, and these dimensions show differences according to some demographic characteristics
