Summary/Abstract: The book that we introduce assesses the women and gender centered discussions on the basis of two concepts of the West and the Islamic World; trust concept and property concept. In this comparison, Islam stands on one side and considers the whole universe including one’s own body as a trust given to him/her whereas the West stands on the other side and considers the universe and the human body as one’s own property. While discussing the topic, the writer handles the women’s movement in parallel with the secularization process of the West. By debating the story of the feminist movement, the writer compares Islam and the West in terms of women. In the last parts the issue of women is handled on a Middle East and Turkey scale.The writer discusses Islam and women by focusing on some striking topics like women’s rights and headscarf.
