THE PERCEPTION OF THE CANDIDATES FOR MUSIC TEACHER ON MUSICAL AESTHETICS

Summary/Abstract: The basic aim of this study is to reveal the perception of the candidates for music teacher on musical aesthetics. In the light of this aim, the research question the study aims to answer: how is the perception of the candidates for music teacher on musical aesthetics? The participants in this research consist of overall eighty three, 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th grade students in the Department of Music Teaching, Ataturk Faculty of Fine Arts during spring term. The participants as the candidates for teacher involve forty nine women and thirty four men. The study is descriptive survey model of qualitative research. The data is analyzed in four stages: codification of the data, specification of themes for the data is codified, arrangement of themes and the data, descriptions and comments on findings. During the analysis, code numbers (such as K1, E2) have been used for compositions of the candidates for music teacher, in the analysis of opinions belonging to candidates for music teacher, the similar features of the statements that summed up are grouped. Themes are divided in accordance with their contents. The content analysis in the process of the research reveals different six themes. These are: Music in terms of aesthetics, musical aesthetics, subjectivity of aesthetics, universality of music, Turkish music and aesthetics, the relation between aesthetics and education.
