Summary/Abstract: The main point of the article is based on the finding of the lack of sufficient textual evidence connected with the impact of the work of Emil Zegadłowicz on Karol Wojtyla’s poetry, which has been considered as a certainty so far. The authoress questions the legitimacy of biographical arguments used by numerous researchers of Wojtyla’s art as a proof of the existence of connections taking place in texts. She expresses the conviction that only textual arguments can be decisive for declaring the relation of influence between texts. As a consequence, she aims to prove the lack of convincing evidence of the impact of writings by Zegadłowicz on Wojtyla’s works. Of course, the article does not negate the value of biographical findings, but questions the validity of their use in order to show similarities in writings of both authors.
