Summary/Abstract: This text aims to discuss the ideas of Сallistus Cataphugiota elucidated in the treatise On union with God and life of contemplation. The work advanced the main idea that contemplation is “fruit of deification“. Different definitions of contemplation, its three stages and final goal – deifying unity with the transcending Unity, were put forward. The article aims to illustrate the significance of the theology of contemplation, developed by Callistus Cataphugiota for Hesychastic tradition and Orthodox spirituality.
