Summary/Abstract: The philosophy of art is a branch of philosophy dealing with the essence and meaning of art, artistic creations and tastes. Differences between civilizations might differentiate how they view art and their aesthetic attitude towards artistic work. The emergent work in its completed state attains the identity of artistic work. From an aesthetic point of view, it gains a universal characteristic. However, the relationship between artist-artwork and that of artwork-subject become dissimilar in themselves. In this study, within the framework of Islamic philosophy of art, the relationship between artist and artwork/subject is conceptually defined and it is evaluated in terms of colour theory and practice.
