Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the spatial differentiation of crime in countries of European Union. Statistical analysis and the application of the taxonomy-based development measure based on the zero-unitized methodology have allowed the characterization of crime in EU countries and their ranking due to the level of threat of crime. Data from Eurostat and police reports available on-line were used in the study. The analysis concerned 2015, while for comparative purpose, selected (available) indicators with data from previous years were referred. On the basis of the research carried out in the study, it can be stated that in the European Union countries, the downward trend in the number of total crimes and they types (murder, robbery and theft) was detected. The taxonomic analysis has confirmed the existing differences in the intensity of crime in the EU countries.
