Summary/Abstract: The reprieve is a way of individualizing the penalty by which the criminal coercion is done and which meet one of the functions of punishment, reeducation. In our study we showed the procedure of granting reprieve, its historical aspects, comparative law issues and positive and negative effects of of this act of clemency.
