Summary/Abstract: This article is trying to make a brief assessment of the current status of play in the Turkish-European relation in the view of a long and frustrating process of negotiations regarding a future and desired Turkish accession to the European bloc. Past and present developments seems to define this complex political relationship more like a failed ”marriage of convenience” and less like a strategic alliance, or a beneficial partnership for both parties involved. Whether Turkey will ever join the EU, as full member is still a question to be answered. The present European and international context is a very blurry one and with no clear hindsight whatsoever. Does the never-ending odyssey of Turkish acknowledgment as being part of the European selective club will eventually end? And will it end happily? Well, we must live and see.
