Research approaches to the musical work of Nikolay Iv. Nikolaev (1852 – 1938)

Summary/Abstract: The different approaches to the research of Nikolay Iv. Nikolaev’s (1852 – 1938) musical work, are briefly considered in the paper. He was one of the Bulgarian musical pioneers, whose contribution was crucial for the development of Bulgarian music. The intent is to simultaneously follow the approaches from his time to contemporaneity. The paper is focused on the contributions of the scholars from the Institute of Music for the collecting of information about Nikolay Nikolaev as well as for the establishing of a scholarly approach to the research about him.
