Summary/Abstract: The presented text covers the changes Poland underwent in teachers’ training in the second half of the 20th century. This topic is particularly important given the reform which is currently being carried out in higher education, for some experiments of that period may serve as a kind of inspiration or warning for the present‑day reformist endeavours. The dominant feature of teacher training in the years 1945–1989 was continual transformation encompassing all forms of education: from the lowest form of training to master studies. In this article there will be formulated some conceptions of teacher training characteristic of the four distinct stages singled out, with special attention paid to organizational and curricular changes and their political motivation.
