The Academic Career – a Person on Their Way to Themself and to a Sense

Summary/Abstract: In the article the different meanings of the term career are presented. On that background the academic career is analysed. The author underlines tensions and contradictions that are inseparably connected with academic career. She also emphasizes the need of subjective way of career building, which is not an elite privilege but the expression of human identity and maturity. The career as a way of realization of subjective sense of academic work is suggested. It is referring to the Władysław Stróżewski idea of six levels of sense.
