Summary/Abstract: The study deals with the post-war pogrom which happened in September 1945 in a Slovakian city of Topoľčany. The event causes controversial reactions in the present society even after 70 years. The text primarily deals with the reactions of central government and press to the pogrom. The account of Jewish narrators is also given a space to. Political representatives cared about a positive image of Czechoslovakia in abroad and anti-Semitic attacks disrupted such eff orts. The research shows that reality contradicted official statements of the Czechoslovakian representatives who condemned anti-Semitic manifestations. The article outlines problems, which impeded Jews to become full citizens of Slovakia and integration into to post-war society, and which were related to the question of national reliability and restitution of property.
