Summary/Abstract: This article contains the characteristics of privatization processes in Wrocław’s regional newspaper „Słowo Polskie”. As a case study approach it presents typical transition from a government-owned enterprise, through commercial law company to a media corporation with foreign capital. Through the interviews conducted with the editors-in-chief and CEOs of publishing houses the study raises fundamental questions on the inevitability of media concentration processes and quality of the media. The author’s long cooperation with the newspaper, direct participation in the daily editorial work and transformation of publisher’s ownership, gives the added empirical value for the study.
