Summary/Abstract: The theme is considered in two publications. The first one is dedicated to the study of book illustrations executed by Moldovan artists, who started their artistic career in the 1950s – 1980s (Filimon Hamuraru, Emil Childescu, Isai Carmu, Alexei Colibneac, Dumitru Savastin, Ion Moraru, Ion Koman, Alexandru Macovei, Vasile Movileanu, Vasile Mosanu, Simion Zamsa, Oleg Cojocaru). The author made a description and a stylistic analysis of the book illustrations published in the MSSR / Republic of Moldova and abroad in the context of the changes in the artistic approach of the book that took place after 1989 produced as a follow-up of the return to the Latin script. Particular attention is paid to the particularities of the execution of graphic works in various artistic techniques (watercolor, gouache, ink, pencil), aspects of polygraphic realization of images. An overview of the contemporary artistic trends and the examination of their manifestation in the graphic art of the Prut-Nistru area is offered. Both published and unpublished illustrations from the museum collections are examined.
