Summary/Abstract: The text Central trends of Islamic culture and tbe peripberal situation of Bosnia informs readers of facts that are thus far little known but of exceptional valueand significance concerning the presence of Islam in this region well before the establishment of Ottoman rule, together with the presence of Slavsin the Arabic-Islamic world. An important role was played in this by traders, diplomats, pilgrims, warriors, slaves, immigrants, colonists and adventurers, whom the author particularly considers in this text. With this contribution, based on published studies and essays, the author not only refers to already known facts, but also extends this knowledge with new and interesting historical facts.
