Summary/Abstract: The presentation of the first and the second volume of the Encyclopedia took place on July 11th 2017 in Lvov. This unique publication offers a comprehensive information about the first scientific organisation in Ukraine. Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society was established in 1892, long before Ukrainian Academy of Sciences has been founded (1918). In 1940 Shevchenko Scientific Society was banned by the Soviet regime, although it continued to function underground. In 1947 it renew its operations abroad. It was fully reactivated on October 21st 1989.Currently Shevchenko Scientific Society has ca. 1700 members. In the past, among its members were influential foreign scientists like Albert Einstein, Aleksander Brückner, Tomáš Masaryk, Max Planck and others. On June 12th 2017 during a meeting in Kiev with the President of Shevchenko Scientific Society in America, prof. George Grabovich, were discussed the perspectives of future cooperation between Shevchenko Scientific Society and its regional offices.
